Sonography, also known as Ultrasound Imaging, is a safe, non-invasive diagnostic technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the internal organs, tissues, and blood flow within the body. It helps doctors visualize internal structures without the use of ionizing radiation (unlike X-rays or CT scans).
A small handheld device called a transducer emits sound waves that bounce off internal organs. These echoes are then captured and converted into visual images on a monitor. The entire process is painless, radiation-free, and generally completed within a few minutes.
Abdominal Sonography: Evaluates organs such as the liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, and kidneys.
Pelvic Sonography: Used to assess the uterus, ovaries, prostate, and urinary bladder.
Obstetric Sonography: Monitors fetal growth, placental position, and overall pregnancy health.
Neck & Thyroid Sonography: Detects thyroid nodules, cysts, and gland enlargement.
Breast Sonography: Helps identify lumps, cysts, and abnormalities in breast tissue.
Vascular (Doppler) Ultrasound: Examines blood flow in arteries and veins to detect blockages or clots.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound: Evaluates muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints for injuries or inflammation.
